Granary bread is a great source of whole-grain goodness, which reduces our risk of certain cancers, and it has a low GI, meaning that it releases its energy slowly. Having a couple of slices of bread with an olive-oil based spread plus a healthy filling such as tuna and salad is an ideal lunch option!

Omega 3 Nutrition Benefits

omega31

It is true to say that all fats are not created equal. In fact, fats such as cholesterol, saturated fats and trans fats are detrimental to one’s health when ingested in large quantities. Conversely, omega 3 fatty acids are one type of fat that possess countless health benefits.

Weight Loss through Nutrition

weightloss1

“Why am I not losing weight even though I’m training more?”

I’m bombarded with this question everywhere I go, even my wife asks me this on a daily basis. First we need to make sure that everyone understands the difference between weight loss and fat loss.

What’s the difference?

Weight Loss = Wanting to lose body weight on a scale – The sum weight of bones, muscles, organs, fat, etc.
Fat loss = Wanting to reduce the fat on your body regardless of weight – The amount of fat between muscle and skin.

Secrets of Fitness 101

main

Chris Carlsen, Head Trainer, Matrix Fitness Club

“If Matrix Fitness Club & Personal Training Center was a school of fitness, this one month foundations course would be mandatory learning. Basically, if everyone took this course, we would have the best fit gym in New York.”

There is a level of preparation before embarking on a journey (task) of any kind. You want to make sure you have the right tools, people, and knowledge to make sure you’re successful along the way. Not only will you be successful, but when you hit a plateau, you will be well equipped mentally and physically to break thorough the plateau without any acts of attrition. When people get stuck, we have the tendency to either force the result, become impatient, or give up. The best way to overcome our self-limiting potential is to be highly-skilled and knowledgeable. Fitness is no different.

Here at Matrix Fitness Club, we as a training staff have accumulated over ten years of experience and specialization in strength and conditioning, powerlifting, kettlebells, speed training, Somatics, pre/post-natal, body composition, and fitness therapy to create a system that’s brings seamless results to our members (students).
